Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

BetterQuote is a quoting tool for Australian tradespeople operated by Better Quote Pty Ltd. For privacy enquiries contact jack@betterquote.au.

2. Information we collect

Account information: business name, owner name, phone number, email address, and ABN provided during setup.

Business information: job descriptions, pricing, quote data, and any client names or site addresses you enter.

Messages and photos: content you send to the BetterQuote bot via Telegram or WhatsApp to create quotes, including photos of sketches and site notes.

Payment information: bank details you choose to add for display on quotes. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers.

Usage data: quote history, win/loss outcomes, and how you interact with the service.

3. How we use your information

• To generate professional PDF quotes from your messages and photos
• To store your quote history and business details
• To display your branding and contact details on quote documents
• To process your subscription payments via Stripe
• To improve the accuracy of our AI-powered quote generation
• To provide customer support
• To send service-related communications (not marketing without your consent)

4. AI processing

BetterQuote uses Anthropic's Claude AI to process your messages and photos to generate quotes. Your content is sent to Anthropic's API for this purpose. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to their processing. We do not use your data to train AI models without explicit consent. See our AI Disclaimer for more detail.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with services required to operate BetterQuote:

• Supabase — database and file storage, hosted in Sydney (ap-southeast-2)
• Anthropic — AI processing of messages and photos
• Twilio — WhatsApp message delivery
• Stripe — subscription billing
• Railway / Vercel — application hosting

We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising purposes.

6. Overseas data processing

Some service providers may process data outside Australia, including in the United States. By using BetterQuote you consent to this where necessary to operate the service. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas providers handle data consistently with Australian privacy standards.

7. Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Australia (Supabase Sydney region) where possible. We use industry-standard security including encrypted connections and access controls. Quote PDFs are stored in secure cloud storage accessible only via authenticated links.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Make a complaint if you believe your privacy rights have been breached

9. Data retention

We retain your data while your account is active and for up to 12 months after closure. Quote records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and financial record-keeping. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us.

10. Messaging platforms

When using BetterQuote via WhatsApp or Telegram, those platforms' own privacy policies also apply. We only access messages sent directly to the BetterQuote bot.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Active users will be notified of material changes via the BetterQuote bot. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
