Common questions, answered. Can't find it here? Email support@betterquote.au.
You describe a job — typed, spoken or photographed — and BetterQuote turns it into a professional, branded quote with itemised line items, your rates and GST. You send it to the client as a link, and they can accept or decline it online. If they accept, you can invoice them straight from the same job.
It's built for turning an enquiry into a booked, paid job — not for managing schedules, assets or compliance certificates.
No. You get 30 days free with no credit card required. You'll only be asked for payment details if you decide to subscribe at the end of the trial.
$39 AUD per month after the free trial. That's the total — there are no per-quote fees, no transaction fees and no charge for sending quotes or invoices. Cancel any time; your access runs to the end of the billing period you've paid for.
No. BetterQuote runs in your phone's browser. For quick access, open betterquote.au in Safari or Chrome and use Add to Home Screen — it'll then open like a normal app, full screen.
Go to Settings and fill in your business name, ABN, contact details and logo. These appear on every quote and invoice you send, so it's worth doing once, properly, before your first real quote.
Adding your ABN is worth the thirty seconds — clients read it as a sign of a legitimate business.
Tap New, choose Quote, then describe the job however suits you:
BetterQuote builds the line items and pricing. You check it, adjust anything you want, then confirm.
A photo of the job itself won't work. A picture of a bathroom doesn't tell us the square metreage, the scope, or what you've agreed with the client — so there's nothing to price from. Photograph what you wrote down, not what you looked at.
Yes, and you should. In Settings you can upload your pricing as a CSV or Excel file, or just paste in plain comma-separated rates. Once your rates are loaded, quotes are built from your real numbers rather than generic estimates.
Yes. Everything is editable before you send — descriptions, quantities, units and prices. You can add lines, delete lines and change the wording. Nothing goes to the client until you confirm it.
Treat the AI output as a fast first draft written by an apprentice: usually close, always worth checking. The quote is yours and you're responsible for what's in it.
A saved set of line items you use again and again — a standard bathroom rough-in, a typical service call, a common supply-and-install. Save one from any quote using Save as favourite, then start a future quote straight from it instead of building from scratch.
Yes. Australian quotes show a subtotal, GST at 10%, and a total including GST.
Yes — upload it in Settings. It appears on your quotes, invoices and PDFs, and the quote link shows your business name when you share it in a message, not BetterQuote's.
As a link. Send it by text, WhatsApp, email — whatever you already use. They open it on their phone, read the quote, and tap to accept or decline. No app, no login, no PDF attachment they have to pinch-zoom through.
You get an email as soon as they accept or decline, and the quote's status updates in your dashboard. Your Home screen shows the won / pending / lost split across all your quotes.
By PayID or bank transfer, directly to you. Add your PayID and bank details in Settings and they'll show on accepted quotes and on invoices, with copy buttons and your quote or invoice number as the payment reference.
Deliberate. Card payments mean processing fees — roughly 1.5–2% — that come out of your money, and someone sitting in the middle of it. PayID is instant, free, and the money goes straight from your client to your bank account.
BetterQuote never touches your money. We charge you a flat monthly subscription and nothing else.
Yes. Open the quote from your Quotes list, make any changes you want, and send it again — the link stays the same for the client. You can also mark a quote as followed up so you can see at a glance which ones you've chased.
Yes. Tap New and choose Invoice. It works exactly like the quote builder, and the client gets a link with your payment details on it.
Automatically, in sequence, starting at 1001 for each business. You don't need to track them yourself and they won't clash with each other.
14 days after it's issued. Overdue invoices are flagged in your Invoices workspace so unpaid work doesn't quietly disappear down the list.
Open the invoice and tap Mark paid. It moves to the Paid tab and drops off your unpaid and overdue counts.
In Settings, find WhatsApp briefs and save your mobile number. Then message BetterQuote on WhatsApp from that same number and we'll reply with a link to build the quote.
A job description, a voice note, or a photo of your handwritten notes or a measured sketch. We'll reply with a link that opens the new-quote screen with your brief already loaded. Add any extra context, tap Generate quote, then check the numbers before you send it.
Photograph your notes rather than the job — a picture of the site on its own has no measurements or scope in it, so there's nothing to build a quote from.
WhatsApp is a fast way to start a quote, not a place to manage your business. Editing quotes, sending invoices, changing rates and updating payment details all live in the dashboard, where you can actually see what you're doing.
Almost always the number. We only reply to a number that's been saved against an account, so check that the mobile you're messaging from is exactly the one saved in Settings — a different work phone or a second SIM won't be recognised.
If the number is right and it's still silent, email support@betterquote.au and we'll take a look.
Open your Account and use the manage option — it opens Stripe's secure billing portal, where you can cancel or update your card. Access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.
In Settings. If you change the mobile number you use for WhatsApp, update it there too, or WhatsApp briefs will stop being recognised.
No. Your job descriptions, photos and voice notes are processed to generate your quote and nothing else. See our AI Disclaimer and Privacy Policy for the detail.
Use our Data & Privacy Requests page, or email support@betterquote.au.
Log in with your email — we send you a one-time code rather than asking for a password. If the code doesn't arrive within a minute, check your junk or spam folder, and make sure you're using the same email you signed up with.
Close the tab, reopen betterquote.au and sign in again. That clears the great majority of display problems. If you've had the app open in the background for days, a fresh load is worth trying first.
Check the link was sent in full — some apps break long links across two lines and only the first half becomes tappable. Resending from the quote itself is the quickest fix. If it still won't open, email us with the quote number.
Very long voice notes and very large photos can fail to process. Try a shorter recording, or type the job instead. If it keeps happening, let us know what you were sending.
If a photo came through but the quote was thin or wide of the mark, check what you photographed. Notes and sketches work; a photo of the job on its own doesn't give us enough to price.
Email support@betterquote.au and tell us what happened, what you expected instead, and the mobile number or email on your account so we can find you. A screenshot helps more than anything else.
We're a small Australian team and we read every one.
